A toast! To new beginnings. :)
If you’ve ever been to SharonAngus.com before, you may notice a few changes. If not, welcome!
I decided to make a few changes around here. Mostly, because I got a bit antsy what with the change in weather, also I felt like trying a new CMS out. My brother Mitch, benefactor of this lovely domain, has been touting the wonders of WordPress to me for quite some time. And I’m always up to a new challenge. ;)
Part of the reason I decided for the change was I wanted a new look, and I also wanted to change the focus of just a static site and put more focus on the blogging aspect. For quite some time, I’ve wanted to do something with this site. A while ago I thought I’d do something along the lines of looking at my life here in Thunderchild. Here I am, a Plains Cree woman living on a reserve that’s fairly cut off from the rest of the world and a lot of the conveniences of modern life, and yet, I make a living teaching people about technology. Not only that, I love technology. I’m a serious geek.
And still … I love living here in the middle of nowhere. lol
So, I thought I should write about that. And I think I will. :) Hence the new layout, the new look, the new focus. And the new CMS. WordPress is a bloggers’ CMS, while Drupal is more for the website people. I love it, and I am still using it. Just not for this site. :)
For the curious … I’m using Drupal for the GotR site, Coppermine for my photogallery, I’ve used eFiction on other sites, Mambo for the Thunderchild site way back when I worked for them, and … I’m sure there were other CMSs I’ve used. lol I even handcoded in the past (and still do for fun).
So let us all raise another glass (of grape juice as I gave up the other stuff years ago lol) to new beginnings! CHEERS!
