Oh yeah, and I'm totally made of awesome.

Oh so crafty …

So this past long weekend I went to a country fair, picked berries, made a pie with said berries, and knitted two three iPod cozies.  :)  I feel super crafty and small town today.

Mmm saskatoon berry pie ...
Mmm saskatoon berry pie …

While my daughter was at her music lesson with my sister, my nephew stayed behind with me and we went out into our saskatoon berry bush to pick berries.  I was so proud of my wee boy since he picked so many berries and barely ate any.  lol  We ended up picking a large freezer bag and enough to make a pie.  While the filling was awesome, the crust wasn’t that great.  It was only my second or third attempt at making pie crust from scratch.  I ended up overworking the crust so it turned out really tough.  Ah well.  Next time!  Still, it looked pretty.

Speaking of awesome food, at the fair this weekend, my cousin and her husband had a booth there selling Mexican food and Indian tacos.  OMG, I totally overate.  *woe*  My only regret is that I didn’t have room for more.  I hope they do that again sometime soon!  I’d so be there!

In non-food-related weekend news, I also managed to knit three iPod cozies this weekend.  The first one was a cute blue one with a daisy button to replace the one that unraveled on my cousin.  I made it for Skye’s birthday, but I hadn’t figured out the proper way to finish it off when I made it for her.  After that, I realized that I hadn’t actually written down the pattern for myself yet!

So, I sat down on Sunday and started writing out the pattern for the iPod Cozy.  Took longer than I thought it would since it had been a while since I’d last actually thought about the pattern.  All this time and the few cozies I had made I was just eyeballing the pattern and hoping I didn’t screw up too badly.  Of course, doing it that way meant I had to unravel a few rows (more than once on a few occasions).

Once I’d finished that though, I decided to get super crafty and I designed another size of cozy, this one for the iPod Nano.  I plan on making a few more.  At least one for my cousin’s husband in the hopes he’ll invite me over for pozole soup!  lol  I’m obsessed with that stupid soup.  *sigh*

OH!  And last week, we made corn soup.  OMG SO GOOD!  It had been a while since we had corn soup.  The only problem was the pork we used was too salty.  Next time, we’ll use something different.  We just watered it down a bit and it was so friggin’ good.  Om nom nom.

Dang, all of a sudden this entry turned into me talking about food.  Oh look … it’s lunch!  lol
