Summary

I was originally a self-taught computer technician during my time at Thunderchild First Nation, but have since taken Cisco’s ITE training and then became an IT Instructor for Keewatin Career Development Corporation’s Training Department.  I helped set up their training academy Keewatin Academy of Information Technology, and over the past four years, successfully trained over 40 students in the Cisco ITE and CCNA Discovery 1-3 levels of training.  I have recently joined ranks at BATC.

Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs [2011-]

  • Strong understanding of and experience with computer parts and assembly.
    • Experience installing and upgrading of hardware and software, dealing with peripheral equipment, reformatting drives, using ghosting and imaging software, etc.
  • Computer Maintenance.
    • Maintenance of hardware and software of computers, including virus scans, repairs and cleaning.

IT Distance Instructor
Keewatin Academy of Information Technology [2007-2011]

Successfully taught  2-3 classes a semester utilizing Moodle (an open sourced online Content Management System) and teleconferencing to connect and interact with Aboriginal students in locales across Northern Saskatchewan.  In addition to the training curriculum posted below, the students became profiencent in Adobe Connect, Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel), Cisco Packet Tracer, and Dia.

  • Cisco Certified ITE Instructor.
    • The Information Technology Essentials: PC Hardware & Software course prepares students to meet the requirements of the CompTIA A+ objectives.
  • Cisco Certified CCNA 1 Instructor.
    • Uses a SOHO network to introduce some basic networking concepts such as cabling, addressing, wireless, and security, and teaches students how to plan, deploy, and troubleshoot a small network.
  • Cisco Certified CCNA 2 Instructor.
    • The course provides an introduction to routing and remote access, addressing and network services. It also familiarizes students with servers providing email services, web space, and Authenticated Access. This course prepares students with the skills required for entry-level Help Desk Technician and entry-level Network Technician jobs.
  • Cisco Certified CCNA 3 Instructor.
    • The course provides more advanced configurations of switching and routing protocols, configuration of access control lists, and basic implementation of WAN links.  It also provides detailed troubleshooting guidance for LAN, WAN, and VLAN implementations.

Thunderchild First Nation [2003-2006]

Volunteer Experience

Volunteer Supervisor
Computer Access Program [2007-2011]

Combined time as instructor with volunteer time as the Computer Access Program (CAP) Supervisor in the CAP  Public Computer Lab in Thunderchild First Nation.

  • Supervision of CAP Interns.
    • Assigning, prioritizing and monitoring jobs and tasks for the CAP Intern.  Assisting the Intern with jobs and tasks assigned.  Paperwork, online management of/for CAP Intern.
    • Maintenance and Supervision of the lab in absence of a CAP Intern.
    • Maintenance of the CAP Lab, including the regular repairs and cleaning of the computers, as well as regular virus scans.

Additional Functional Expertise

  • I am an extremely quick learner.  I excelled at the CCNA 1 & 2 Instructor training which I completed in Toronto, ON during a two week time period.  My final marks for the classes were 86.5% and 88.3%, respectively
  • My hobbies include learning programming languages including HTML, XHTML, PHP, and CSS.
